How to Use EchoLinkOption 1: Using the Local RF Gateway

  1. Tune your radio to 145.3375 MHz FM.
  2. Set the correct CTCSS tone 103.5
  3. Identify yourself as per licence conditions: “This is [your callsign], accessing EchoLink via MB7ILT.”
  4. Send DTMF tones Hold the PTT and using your radio’s keypad:
    • To connect to a node or callsign: Enter the node number (e.g., 123456)
    • To disconnect: Press #
    • To play current status: Press 08
    • Connect to previous node: Press 09
  5. Wait for confirmation (voice prompt or beep).
  6. Speak clearly and allow gaps between transmissions to let others in or allow DTMF control.

Option 2: Using the EchoLink App or PC

  1. Download and install the EchoLink app from your app store or visit www.echolink.org.
  2. Register and verify your amateur licence.
  3. Log in and search for “MB7ILT-L”.
  4. Tap to connect, then use push-to-talk (PTT) to begin speaking.

Operating Tips

  • Always identify yourself with your callsign.
  • Leave pauses between overs to allow breaking stations or control signals.
  • Do not connect repeatedly to large conferences during busy hours.
  • Disconnect when finished using the # DTMF code.

Troubleshooting

  • No response from node: Ensure you’re in range and transmitting the correct CTCSS tone.
  • Audio is choppy: Check internet latency or local RF conditions.
